Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY) is a non-profit organization that provides reproductive health care to all people in the central and western New York area. PPCWNY is licensed by New York State Article 28 of the public health law. PPCWNY delivers high quality, affordable reproductive health care including: Annual exams, breast and cervical cancer screening, all FDA approved contraceptive options, pregnancy testing, pregnancy options counseling, abortion, gender affirming hormone care, smoking cessation and general health screenings.


Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY) seeks a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to serve as an integral part of the PPCWNY management team. They will participate in the organization, implementation, and ongoing evaluation and development of PPCWNY programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Health Services, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will collaborate with the CEO, the medical leadership team, Patient Navigator and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to develop and implement PPCWNY’s policies and procedures. They will act as a liaison to and medical supervisor for any contract physicians providing patient care and regularly participate in the delivery of high quality PPCWNY clinical services, both surgical, non-surgical and the full range of reproductive health care, while assuring high quality services and consistently positive patient experience. The CMO will integrate PPCWNY’s mission, values, and service standards, in all aspects of the role and in day-to-day interactions with internal and external customers (such as patients, colleagues, vendors, volunteers, clinicians, etc.), demonstrating civility and respect for differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints, and needs. The CMO will be a conduit to the medical community, news media and the public. This person is responsible for high quality medical care and will work closely with the CQRM department to ensure compliance with all risk management and quality assurance programs and agencies. The CMO will participate in the recruitment, selection, training and privileging of qualified clinicians and oversee all physician training programs. The location of the CMO can be at any of the main sites, but they must visit all clinic sites to meet with Health Center Managers and staff to review medical operations and staff performance. The CMO will collaborate with the CEO, VP of Health Services, Senior Director of Clinical Services, Director of Health Center Operations, and Director of CQRM to provide strategic oversight of all clinical programs. In collaboration with the VP of Health Services, Senior Director of Clinical Services, and Director of Health Center Operations, the CMO provides clinical supervision of physicians and APCs employed by PPCWNY. They will serve as an informational resource to affiliate staff, the board and its committees.
