Loyola University Health System (LUHS), a member of Trinity Health, is seeking an Executive Director (ED) of Cardiovascular Services. With a matrix reporting relationship to Division Physician Leadership and Operations the ED will be wholly responsible for leading and directing all outpatient services within the Department of Cardiovascular Services at the LUHS system level. LUHS is located in the Chicago area and its affiliates include Loyola University Medical Center, a flagship academic hospital, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, and newly acquired MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. This key leadership position will reside at Loyola University Medical Center within the Department of Cardiovascular Services and travel to satellite sites, as required. Total budget for the region is close to $2 billion, including the most recent integration of MacNeal Hospital.
The Executive Director is charged with the overall growth and development of the service line and its associated clinical programs including the development and execution of the annual operating plan. The cardiovascular service line includes but is not limited to Cardio/CV and Vascular Surgery. The ED will work collaboratively across the continuum of care and with all leaders in the organization to achieve the quality, patient experience, financial and clinical program growth goals. Service Line collaboration spans the inpatient, outpatient, faculty operations at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) and in some cases Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH), where the ED is responsible for the clinical program and network relationships at other Trinity Ministry Organizations and non-Trinity Hospitals, Systems or groups. S/he will develop, monitor and manage the clinical program performance goals which include financial, growth, and quality and patient experience metrics across the continuum of care. Importantly, the ED will collaborate with the Network Development Team to establish, expand and deliver on established goals for partner hospitals and medical groups. Partners with key physician and administrative leaders to develop new clinical- programs and services at LUMC and GMH. S/he will manage cardiovascular division business operations (budget, salaries, etc.) and ACGME programs and will have oversight of CV Institute, clinical research personnel, budget and grant administration, in addition to cardiovascular non-invasive testing and clinic operations. Profile of Dr. Verghese Mathew Dr. Mathew is the Division Director of Cardiology and Co-Director Cardiovascular Services at Loyola Medicine. He has been a high volume academic interventional cardiologist for over 2 decades. Prior to coming to Loyola, he was at Mayo Clinic from 1997-2016, where he was the highest volume and most often referred to interventional cardiologist for much of his tenure, held a number of leadership positions in the cardiac and vascular practices, with joint appointments in the departments of medicine, cardiology, and radiology. He has extensive experience in interventional cardiology including complex CAD, peripheral arterial interventions, and TAVR. He has been a leading clinical investigator in many trials that have evaluated and led to the approval of currently used technologies, such as coronary stents/drug eluting stents and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Dr. Mathew is board certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has been actively involved in these and other cardiovascular professional societies, with an active interest in developing integrated, high quality, value-driven cardiovascular care.
