SUMMARY
Dana-Farber is renowned for its outstanding clinical services, research programs, and medical and clinical education programs for cancer care. It is a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, a federally designated Center for AIDS Research, and a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, a federally designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, that develops and disseminates innovative patient therapies and scientific discoveries throughout the world. Founded in 1947 by Sidney Farber, MD, the Institute employs over 6,000 people supporting more than 550,000 patient visits a year. Dana-Farber is a national and international leader for cancer care and recognized for the contributions of its scientists to basic science and clinical research. Dana-Farber is the only hospital ranked in the top four nationally by US News and World Report in both adult and pediatric cancer care. It is a highly respected cancer center for training and application of advanced diagnostic and treatment methods in the mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Dana-Farber) is seeking an Executive Director, Payer Contracting and Performance (Executive Director). The Executive Director will oversee all payer contracting activities through strategies that ensure optimal financial and operational outcomes and will represent and advocate for Dana-Farber and affiliated physicians as issues, opportunities, and disputes arise. The Executive Director will guide and support Dana-Farber’s efforts to prepare for the short- and long-term impact of health reform, payer strategy, clinically integrated networks, and response to ACOs that align with overall Institute goals. The Executive Director will manage a significant portfolio of payer contracts that apply to multiple hospital-licensed sites and over 250 affiliated physicians. As a member of the ten hospital Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers, its contracting relationships and reimbursement models are distinct from other cancer centers. This contributes to the challenging and rewarding character of the role of the Executive Director of Payer Contracting.
THE POSITION
The Executive Director is a senior leader and reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief Finance and Business Strategy Officer. The Executive Director is accountable for providing strategic leadership regarding all aspects of health plan relationships, contracting, and health plan performance that support the mission and goals of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
