Communicating with Older Adults about Long Term Care
The state of Florida has established a new Medicaid Managed Long Term Care program and required that each older adult choose a managed care provider to deliver services previously provided through a state case managed program. How and how well did the state communicate this change to its 90,000 older and disabled adults? This Webinar covers the results of a study of the state’s communication with affected older adults and how nursing homes responded to these changes.
Our speakers for this Webinar are Lindsay Peterson and Dr. Kathryn Hyer. Lindsay J. Peterson, MS, is a graduate student in the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida. Kathryn Hyer, PhD, MPP, is a professor and director of the Florida Policy Exchange Center on Aging in the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida Tampa. Her research and evaluation studies focus on long-term care supports and services, especially on how quality of care is influenced by organizational structure, financing, staffing, and training policies.
